        <![CDATA[<p>SSC's Linux file server, <strong>lambic.ssc.upenn.edu</strong>,  will be down after 5pm to this evening (8/2/2007) to replace system components. This means that you will have no access to data stored on lambic, including the following:</p>

/africa<br />
/pier<br />
/home</p>

<p>As a result, some websites for which the data resides on lambic, will<br />

<p>We anticipate this outage lasting no longer than 2 hours, but cannot be certain of this at this time. We will notify you when lambic.ssc is back online.</p>

        <![CDATA[<p>Beginning Saturday, January 27, we will be performing Operating System and Application upgrades to the SSC Linux servers. We do these upgrades periodically in order to ensure the highest possible performance, security, and robustness of our systems.</p>

<p>The servers affected (and a list of services affected) are:</p>

<p>*lambic.ssc.upenn.edu - SSC Linux File Server - /home and /work directories, personal websites, and course websites hosted within individual home directories</p>

<p>*porter.ssc.upenn.edu - SSC Linux Web Server - all websites hosted by SSC</p>

<p>*stout.ssc.upenn.edu - SSC Linux Application Server - Statistical Applications, including SAS, Stata, Gauss, R</p>

<p>*mailman.ssc.upenn.edu - SSC Mailing List Server - Department and Research mailing lists</p>

<p>In order to ensure a minimum of service disruption, one server will be upgraded each weekend, beginning with the weekend of January 27. The tentative schedule is as follows:</p>
